Haiku Practice {09.13.12}

haiku practice

leaves on the blacktop

summer’s deathknell premature

feel sand on my toes

burning twisting fire

the forest screams apart all

clear the way to soot

sweat drips on the mound

pitcher’s mind racing fevered

strike two so far off

umpire calls outside

batter’s chatter in dispute

wind in from left field

crows fly east at night

what comfort do they know there

in the red gloaming

DJ skips a beat

crowd froths in sweaty contempt

rhythm broken black
